The Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory is still a small organization, and we'd like you to know who we are, where we've been, and where we're going. SABO was founded by Naturalist/Directors Tom Wood and Sheri Williamson with the able and enthusiastic support of volunteer Director Mark Newstrom. Eduardo Gómez Limón, co-founder of Monte Sonorense, is SABO's International Associate who has worked on the Sonoran Ecotourism Project and banding projects in Sonora. To guide SABO's conservation, education, and advocacy efforts, we have assembled a Board of Advisors selected for their knowledge and experience in a wide range of disciplines, including ornithology, conservation biology, education, and economic development. Its first member was respected author, lecturer, and optics and birding expert Pete Dunne, Director of the Cape May Bird Observatory. Craig Anderson, founder of Casa de San Pedro Bed & Breakfast, Dr. Millicent S. Ficken, ornithologist and professor emeritus of the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Jeff Price, ornithologist, and Dr. Forrest Davis, founder of High Lonesome BirdTours have also graciously agreed to lend their expertise to SABO. SABO couldn't function without the support and assistance of volunteers. Our sincerest thanks to the following dedicated individuals who assisted us during the 2006 and 2007 seasons:
Many visitors to SABO's banding stations have pitched in when we were short handed. Though we're unable to acknowledge them all by name, their contributions are no less appreciated.
