SABO inducted into Arizona Outdoor Hall of Fame
On August 22, the Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory was among five honorees inducted into the Arizona Outdoor Hall of Fame, joining past honorees including Rep. Mo Udall, Sen. John McCain, The Nature Conservancy, Liberty Wildlife, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and Audubon Arizona. Established in 1998 through a partnership between Wildlife for Tomorrow, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and the Arizona Game and Fish Department, the Arizona Outdoor Hall of Fame stands as one of the state’s highest honors for individuals and organizations dedicated to Arizona’s wildlife, natural resources, and outdoor heritage.
SABO founders Tom Wood and Sheri Williamson attended the 28th annual induction banquet to accept the award on behalf of the volunteers, members, donors, and partners in the business, nonprofit, and government sectors who have made possible the three decades of outreach, education, research, advocacy, and on-the-ground conservation that earned SABO this recognition.
We’re grateful to Wildlife for Tomorrow and the Arizona Game & Fish Department for this honor and to colleagues Bruce Sitko, Tice Suplee, Chrissy Kondrat, and others whose nominations and support made it possible.
